Mr. Mavrelis has extensive and varied experience in real estate transactions with an emphasis in real estate tax abatement and incentive programs offered within the City of New York. Mr. Mavrelis is thoroughly knowledgeable in the field of real estate tax abatements and incentives, including the ICAP (formerly ICIP), 421-a and J-51 programs. He has prepared, filed and received hundreds of real estate tax abatements, Certificate of Eligibility, for projects throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Mr. Mavrelis represents a varied clientele, from professional real estate developers to single project owners. His expertise in real estate tax law has provided useful guidance to many developers of projects that required careful analysis of the real estate tax implications pre and post construction. The scope of the projects that he has filed tax abatement applications on behalf of clients has ranged from commercial office buildings, multi-unit residential housing, mixed use buildings, gas stations, medical centers, industrial warehouses, private schools and condominium buildings. He frequently advises clients on the real estate tax implications of projects prior to the commencement of the project. He is abreast of all the current changes in the laws as they pertain to real estate tax abatements.
Mr. Mavrelis received a Bachelors of Arts Degree from New York University in 1988 and a Juris Doctor Degree from Forham University School of Law in1991. Mr. Mavrelis was admitted to practice in the State of New York in 1992. He has maintained a private practice at the same office location since 1992.
